Book signing success and a new poem

Greetings, friends:

A big thanks goes out to all who were able to attend the book signing and poetry reading on October 21 in Camrose, Alberta at Cathel Books. There was a very healthy turnout, and we are grateful to those who withstood our readings and graced us with their presence. Thanks also to "Bill the proprietor" of Cathel books for his hospitality.

In other news, we are currently getting a book signing event lined up for January 2007 at McNally Robinson in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. More news to come.

Finally, please check out the new anonymously submitted poem entitled "junkpt4." It has some memorable lines, and I think you might derive some pleasure from it.

Book Release!

The day has finally arrived... "So Many Shepherds," a collection of poetry by Ian McPhail and myself, is finally ready for public consumption! It has been a long time in the making, but I hope you will agree that the wait was worth it.

The book includes only a few of my older poems-- most are (relatively) new and unpublished poems. Some are deliciously abstract, while others attempt to convey a message in the traditional "look at me, I have meaning" vein of popular literature. I hope you enjoy the mix.

Ian McPhail's poems are nothing to be laughed at, either. I won't even mind if you get the book simply for his poems--and I don't say that because I profit from his success too. He is exceptionally gifted, and a tremendously interesting and compassionate man to boot.

So, where can you buy this book, you may (or may not) be wondering? It is for sale in the Adopt A Beard.com Store, first of all. In Saskatoon, fine book stores such McNally Robinson and the University of Saskatchewan bookstore are carrying it. In Camrose (Ian's domain), the book can be found at the Augustana bookstore, with several more listings to come in the near future.

much thanksgiving

Good day, and Happy Thanksgiving to all of my Canadian readers (and anyone else who might be giving thanks at this time).

Several pieces of information. First, Marilee Mitchell has come up with some new art and poetry for us all. Check out the poems Florid and Moonset. Then, traipse on over to the Art & Such section, and see her new pieces!

Also, I'd ask that you keep my good friend Ryan "Abdukrahman" Harder in your thoughts and prayers, as he was stabbed in the abdomen for no apparent reason on Friday. He will be quite alright, but really, who likes to get stabbed in the abdomen? Not I.

Play nice!
