The Night Will Go On...

The night will go on...
its pitch whining with a lazy drone
an asphalt black-top spread from here
to there ~~ desert bound traffic slow
caressed by blinking neon stars
hot and bright they will not burnout soon
fiercely protecting the motherhood
of the moon

How clever they must feel
adrift with hope
surreal purpose is keeping them afloat
with each passing moment
time whispers on the second
light years away
ink black perception encoded
in the lazy all-seeing moon

the sun shoves its way in with a fiery face
stars fading in steadfast belief
unafraid on the darkest night
stars smile in remembrance
of the bitter day time sun

swaddled in its orbital cage
filled with knowledge from eons past
and futures promised
the moon hangs fat and low
waiting ~~ anticipating

The night will go on....
